Care and grooming of snakes
Check your pet for mites. They appear as black specs most often in the mouth and under the scales. You can do this by gently retracting the lips to check the mouth. Gentle retraction along the scales works much the same.
Shedding: You can assist your snake to shed by making sure there is a good water supply and by providing a rough material, such as a branch, to rub against. Don't be alarmed if your pet's appetite diminishes during this period. It is normal.
Make sure your snake has fresh water and bedding! Snakes are prone to respiratory infection. Also make sure the cage temperature is correct for your breed. By providing clean bedding, water and correct temperature, you can protect your pet from this potentially deadly problem.
Feeding and handling: After your snake has fed, avoid handling for a while. If the snake is disturbed too soon after feeding, it may regurgitate its food.
