    Hello!

Every winter i prepare food for the birds outside. I enjoy watching them and i have a little book of birds to identify them. So last winter i tried to catch them with my camera, i couldn't take a photo of every bird, but with some species i succeeded. Here are photos of some birds, but i know only Slovenian names for them, i don't know the English ones.

    Re: Birds

Do your birds normally overwinter in your area? Where we live in New Mexico many of our birds (like hummingbirds) go south for the winter and if we leave their food out during winter then they tend to stay here causing many of them to die from the cold...

      Re: Birds

No, many of bird species go south during winter, but there are some species (the ones on photos) that stay in our area, this is not because of feeding, but they are just that kind of birds that winter is not a problem for them. Maybe our winters are not that rough :) The one with the apple is Blackbird, Slovenian name is Kos, here is something about blackbird: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_Blackbird
And some birds come to our country during winter from northern places and go back there for the summer, so we can see them only in winter.

Great bird pictures. We put out feeders and feed the birds in the winter time too. It is still warm here, I will get some bird pics soon.

              Re: Birds

              Good for you, dear .M.

Putting out food and fresh water for the wild birds (and animals) every day during the winter makes such a difference to them and indeed can make the crucial difference between surviving the winter and not doing so...

You have a very kind heart. God bless you.
All this talk of religion, but it's how you live your life that is the all-important thing.
If you set out each day to do all the goodness and kindness that you can, and to do no harm to man or beast, then you are walking the highest path.
And when your time is up, if you can leave the earth a better place than you found it, then yours will have been a life well lived.
