  • Why do birds kiss each other?

Are they doing this because they are bored? Are they doing this because they like each other?

Is it true that this behavior comes from the time that the bird was a youngster when they were tapping against the beak of the parent bird in order to give him something to eat? Is the birds' exhibiting this behaviour a continuation, but as for now to confirm and strengthen mutual ties?

    Here is an example:

Welcome to the forum. Please go to the introduction section to say hello to members and tell them a little about yourself and your pets. How many budgerigars do you have?

We do not normally allow new members to give links, but as it concerns a genuine question about bird behaviour I have allowed it.
    Do animals have souls?

Its not only aan imprinted behaviour from begging for food as chicks but its also a mating behaviour, passing food to each other to cement a bond

That sounds like a totally logical explanation!

Yup and it's also to get the milk flowing in the crop so they can feed the babies when they hatch. The milk is solid in the crop until they forcefully get it moving by "kissing". When they kiss they are actually tapping the crop to make the milk liquid

I would imagine some form of communication? Or simply affection lol.
