  • Need help identifying problem

My friends cat started to get these kinds of clots on the back, and we are not sure what it is. the cat keeps on licking it. my friend tried to clean it with a wet cloth
and applied some tea tree oil to smoothen it. It kind of helped but not for long.
See the picture for an idea. Thank you so much for your help. First time posting here, please bear with me.

    Re: Need help identifying problem

Hi Cosmiks! Welcome to the forum

Looking at the lump it is hard to tell what it is exactly, especially without knowing all the details. It is nice to hear that the tea tree oil your friend applied may have helped for that short time.

My recommendation is for your friend to take them to their veterinarian. If it is an unknown lump, they may recommend surgically removing it and sending it to a pathologist to have them check what it is. Sometimes lumps may not need to be removed, however, if the cat is licking it then that may indicate that they are annoyed by it.

Hopefully all ends up okay! Let us know what your friend decides to do and how it works out.

Only thing I’d advise is to got to take her/him to the vet. It sounds like your cat may have “blackheads” but the have become infected. Wish the best for you and your friends cat!
