Is it ironic that it is the Whippet breed that has this genetic defect? I have seen a picture of at least one other Whippet with this condition. I hope they are not uncomfortable with all that bulk.

Well thats one up on me because I have never seen anything like that before. I too would also wonder whether or not they are comfortable. Poor thing.....Did you read some of the comments people posted on the article?

One idiot says "I hope she can breed because I would love a dog like that"

What a jack@**..why would someone purposely want to breed a dog with a defect that has an effect on the quality and length of life??

I did not read the comments, but breeding that dog would just be some kind of wierd ego-trip.
        TMJ...Too many jack@#%sses.

Went back and reread the article and comments. They mention shortened life-span in the article and muscle cramping in one of the comments...but
        hey, let's breed that dog!

I am glad Wendy has someone to care for her who is taking special care of her.

Thats just plain crazy, but doesn't some humans also have that defect? I think it's called myostatin deficiency.

Oh my, that dog is is huge contrast to her breed! BTW, the dog really looks happy, so I guess there's no problems there.
