I guess a stomach infection could cause her to be uncomfortable enough to not sleep and be very still.

At this point, I think you just have to go by what the vet says.

Make sure she is offered some foods that will tempt her. I think she needs some meat based food. So far, all you have mentioned are fruits and vegetables. Does she usually get meat in her diet?

If she won't eat, maybe her stomach is still bothering her, cook her some white rice and add some cooked meat into it(chopped small) to tempt her and offer her small amounts. What does the vet say you should do? I don't think you should do anything contrary to the vets advice.

well... she got the second shot of antibiotic today.

      It's a 3 day course

Apart form that he also gave her a shot to induce hunger

Well she did eat "chicken liver" (boiled and mashed with rice... just a lil)
Apparently other meat product have FAT, which should be avoided so... chicken liver is good.

Well like i said... she is not all flat.
She still responds to her name (fast)... barks and she did eat couple of Glucose Biscuits tonight.

According to VET tomorrow, if she's still too weak and not eating anything... than we'll have to minister "Saline Water"

I hope she will get well soon... :(

Thanks all you wonderful people for helping and support... woof woof

PS: by the way I 'm so pissed at my neighbor... he said things to my mom like "Apso don't live beyond 8 years, and it's point less to keep old dogs... Do the mercy killing, it'll cost you less and be good for the dog's inner peace or some crap "
My mom was literally traumatized :(... In fact he revealed he had his dog killed 2 weeks ago... apparently he was very... very OLD !!! (that's what he says... and I know that dog was not even 9 years old)

Swear some people need to be bitten by Rabid DOG!!! swear...
      :x

We are rooting for Softy. Hope all turns out ok. I am glad the vet is so attentive.
Your family will know if it is time to help your pet over the bridge. Your neighbor will not be in a position to make that decision.

Best wishes for your pets recovery.

no dont force feed her. when my lot feel unwell they get scrambled eggs or brown rice. try to tempt her with little and often and make sure she keeps up her fluids.

sod the dog your the cute one

have you tried her on little bits of grilled chicken? just one tiny little cut up piece a day may help encourage her to nibble.

                      Hey Rita n smiffy...

The doctor came today and took temperature.
She is normal... yesterday had a slight fever.

Anyways today i had to do something... so bought a syringe and forced a bowl or so of "energy drink + milk"

Amazingly she didn't resist... she drank the whole lot :).
Doctor has prescribed some tonic for her... and right now she looks quite fine.

Had some pieces of grilled chicken too (thanks smiffy)

Looks a lot better... not trembling or shaking
                      :)

But not so good news for my fren... her dog is 11 years of age, and apparently she has something wrong with her "uterus"... it's bleeding with yellow puss... kind of septic

The VET has given pain killer and they don't want to operate... she is a small breed "Pomeranian". (Mercy killing is the only option...)

I was scared... what could be the reason ? infection ?

your friends dog has pyometra. this is another very good reason why spay is such a good idea. i'm sorry for your friends girly, the only real way to deal with this is a spay depending on how far gone the infection is but given the dogs age i would think the surgeon would be reluctant.

i had an old girly staying with me as she was so old no-one wanted to adopt her. she had loads of medical problems and it got to the stage it was kinder to pts but before we did we took her to her favourite place.

she loved a little harbour we visit and she liked to sit on the bench and just watch the boats so thats what we did, then we got chips for us and an extra large sausage for her

it was a lovely day and left us with a very fond memory of her. we now have a 'time capsule' for her buried under a garden slab and a statue thats about her size (patterdale terrier)

Glad Softy is gaining on the battle. Sounds like she will be ok.

Smiffy's story made me all weepy.

Sorry for your friend and her ill dog. Hugs to them.
