  • Weak or plain sick?

hmmm... Softey (Tibetan Apso) is recovering very slowly i guess.

She eats... she is alert... but she is soooo Boney !!
I mean i can easily feel her bones... and her skull has become so sharp... I can even feel her cheek bones (do they have em?)

Anyways today i was shocked... as i was giving her biscuits, she looked up and i noticed something weird.

Her eyes look quite sunk... the balls have gone a lil inside, and her white membrane is visible.

Is she getting blind? help... this sucks !!!

Mike here... i don't even know what I'm typing !!!

With her stool being the way it was, the temp being slightly elevated (dogs normally run 101 -102.5F), her losing weight and having "shaking" problems - and considering her age and breed - have you had her tested to see if she is a diabetic or to see if she has Cushings Disease?

Well... today i did a major "follow the sick dog operation"

She has stopped shaking... and is eating (better than before).
Her stool is not runny or black.

She is alert... she is barking around, and i see she's back to her killing lil insects (she loves chasing flies, mosquito... etc)

Now when i saw that eye... i panicked and posted this message.
(and thanks jdjlynn... for your prompt reply)

Well... i was looking at her now, and her eyes look quite normal now !!!

I will sure take her to the vet again...

My Q is... does it take time for an old dog to gain back her weight... softey used to be quite the chubby dog.

      thanks... mike

wight gain should never be attempted to be quick, just keep her on a good solid dite that is fed for what your vet says is her idea weight and she'll gain it back slowly and healthily.
The reason dogs are great is they wag their tails, not their tongues.

good news mike but dont be tempted to over feed her in an attempt to get her weight to normal - do it slow and steady so as not to create future problems.

Congrats! Thanks for the update...& I second Smiffy..take it slow in regards to weight gain and such. She'll gain it all back eventually and there's no sense in rushing it and causeing problems.
