  • Hi, I'm new

    Hey everyone

I'm new to the site. I love animals and nature.
I have a 2 (almost 3) year old German Shepherd named Delta and an 8 year old cat named Kelly. They mean the world to me.
It's great to be a part of a community like this and I look forward to interacting with other animal lovers :)

    Re: Hi, I'm new

Warmest greetings! Welcome to the forum!

We have had quite a few members from India over the years. I must confess that I hadn't heard of Chennai, but a search of trusty Wikipedia told me that Chennai is the new name for Madras and also a few other interesting things:

"Chennai is among the most visited Indian cities by foreign tourists. It was ranked the 43rd most visited city in the world for the year 2015....The Quality of Living Survey rated Chennai as the safest city in India....Chennai attracts 45 percent of health tourists visiting India, and 30 to 40 percent of domestic health tourists....As such, it is termed 'India's health capital'....."
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chennai

So you have both a cat and a dog. Feel free to post pictures, if you wish. Did you get them both at the same time, or did you introduce one of them later? Did you have any difficulty getting them to accept each other?

      Hi LPC !

Thank you for the welcome. Yes, Chennai is definitely the safest city in India. It's even know to have the second longest beach in the world - The Marina. We're also one of the few "green" cities in India because we still have lots of trees and take pride in them. Unfortunately, there was a cyclone two years ago that destroyed most of the trees. But thankfully more trees are being planted in their place.

I didn't get my cat and dog together. I got my cat Kelly 8 years ago from someone who was going to send him off to a shelter because he couldn't care for him anymore. I got my dog Delta as a gift from a friend two years ago. I had a little bit of trouble introducing the new puppy to my cat who'd been used to being the master of the house, but they eventually got along. My cat scratched Delta when she was a puppy because we didn't introduce them properly. But she turned out to be ok and a quick visit to the vet confirmed it.

Both of them are part of the family and get along fine now. They also like to eat each other's food and share my bed lol.

          Hi Essie90 :)

Kelly looks very sweet! Is she a very affectionate cat?

Also, may I ask. What do you say you did wrong with introducing Kelly to Delta?
          Hi There, how are you?
