  • Hello!

Looks like your site needs more visitors... I seem to be the only one, so far! Anyway, I'm ElvenEve, and in my house there are two cats, one fish, one holland lop rabbit, and in approximately two weeks, there will soon be two dwarf hamsters. I must say, your site is VERY pleasing to the eye and easy to use. Surely there must be people out there who need pet questions answered. Ah well, they'll come eventually. :P Here it is, officially: Hello!

    Till Next Time.

Hello ! The reason there are no visitors yet is that we JUSt set this board up this week. :) We've used newsgroups before this and a lot of our members, especially AOL people, could not access that type.

Thanks so much for the comments about the website...and welcome!

            Hi there!

Hi there all. I am obviously new to this forum. My name is Heather and I am mom to two Love Birds (Yin and Yang) which I just got today, 2 cats named Pete and Max, 2 hamsters named Jenna and Stars and an 8 month old rottie pup named Justice. I am also mom to four human kids...hehehe!
I have questions about my love birds since this is the first time I have had birds. They both are beautiful and look exactly the same and very playful and active but one of them is losing or plucking or scratching out his/her feather around the beak area and under the wings. Since I was given them because the people they were given too could niot handle them and had mean kids (5 girls to be exact) I do not know the age or anything about the sweet guys. I have been told that the feather loss could have something to do with mating season but that does not help me in the least. My worry is although they seem healthy and active as can be that something could be wrong with this little guy! Any suggestions or help on the love bird topic please feel free to fill me in!

              Hello quick update

My 6 year old daughter renamed her hamster Angel, this hamster is one of the babies of Jenna, my 8 year old sons hammie, and it along with another was given as b-day gifts to some children of a church family we know. Well they killed one of the hamsters and their mother asked us to take this sweet hammie back, which we did. Along with the pair of love birds that I had named yin and yang (they were also being terrorized) just to find out that their names are Fred and Ethyl, which is fine by me :D! They are 2 and a half years old now which is another thing I found out. So there is the update on names of our babies!

hi there! im obviously new too! i have a leopard gecko called reala, 2 gerbils called fizzgig and tails and a coron bleu finch called red.

just thought i should post something about your lovebirds heather, i dont mean to cause you any alarm, but every aniaml i get is from animal homes. most of them have something up with them aswell. one of the most distrssing animals i had was when i first got red and partner. the problem with them was they had been in a very very noisy house of kids and had basically been terrorised by them. when i got them, red slowly became more and more unsociable, despite my greatest efforts to entertain him, and blue (his mate) kept plucking her feathers out.

when i spoke to one of my freinds who worked at a zoo, he informed she might be doing this because of the stress she had been through. the peeps in the zoo see it all the time in parrots, people keep parrots in small cages and dont give them any stimulation so through stress they tear their own feathers out, and seeing as it becomes habit the rarely stop doing it unless they are given proper help. i gave blue to the zoo she died about 4 years ago though. red is now a very chirpy chappy who has lived to a ripe age of 11 (pretty damn old for a finch :) ).

im not trying to scare you or anything but seeing as by the sounds of it they could be stressed, if she keeps pulling her feathers out for a while you might want to look at getting him help. it is rare in most birds (except parrots and other big birds kept in confined areas) but if it can happen to a finch i would guess it can happen to most birds.

                    hope she turns out ok

                            Welcome!
I love all of the names - both yours - AND your pets!
Looks like you have quite the menagerie!

You can ask bird related questions in teh bird section! So far we do not have many bird folks here, but soon I will be putting online something similar to the dog breeds section of the website...but all about every species/breed of bird! That should attract many more visitors and has been years in the making.
                            Can't wait.

                              Just Join

Hi... everyone... I join in after being 'persuaded' by my good friend "Go Ovi" from the Singapore Bikers "Phantom Knight Club"... A brief introduction of myself. I like to keep Aquarium fishes and ironically, my family like to keep cats, therefore as time goes on, I like cats too. Most of the cats were strays brought home by my daughter over the years... at present we have 4 cats, the oldest "Aura" is about 7 years and staying with my daughter in Holland, but will be coming back in June. My wife, staying in Clementi loves the youngest one "Kiki" the most (Grrrr.. she would rather sleep with her than with me!!) The other two are "Gini" and "Blackie" stay at my daughter house at Chapel Close.
