Our black alpaca, Penny, had a female cria at about 12H30 today. Mother and daughter are both doing well. The cria is still a bit wet after the birth in the photo. Here she is at only about an hour old:

Is Penny the daughter or granddaughter of your original Alpacas, Denni and Jenny? Or the daughter of Stella?

As Denny cannot remain with his daughters once they mature (to avoid consanguinity), we did an exchange with another English couple who have alpacas. Stella was exchanged for Penny, the delightful black cria you mention back in spring 2020. Penny and Denny were "married" very quickly after her arrival.
Penny's first cria is named Apolline (Polly for short). She has grown a lot in the past two weeks and is now rushing round the field.Comment

Oh I see. Yes, I understand why Penny arrived now. It's very good that you know another English couple nearby who also have alpacas
